At Outpost in Port Moody we wanted to create a venue that serves as a community space and is not seen as a typical sales gallery. We designed unexpected, memorable moments throughout, including the integration of retail pop-ups and public artwork for the project conceived by local artist, Alex Morrison.

Two of the main design objectives for Outpost Port Moody centre around community: give space, alongside our partner Timbertrain, to foster community and deliver a sense of civic purpose. We took a customer-first approach to all experiences within the building - from the time the customer steps into the front door, to the time they leave.

We commissioned illustrator Rory Doyle, to design and paint a large mural facing St. John’s street and 2 additional pieces on the rear patio. The idea was to illustrate key attributes of Port Moody’s people, landmarks and lifestyle, while creating an inviting composition of colour and shapes that complimented the space and surrounding environment.
