‘Jewel Box’ Display Home for Söenhaus in Port Moody.

At Söenhaus, an active decision was made to evoke emotion and stir the senses — to stand apart from conventional housing in West Coquitlam. To achieve this, every architectural detail and constructive element has been designed. The result is a modern building with a simple, nuanced design expression.

The ‘Jewel Box’ appears as a Platonic structure in the landscape, an integral aspect of Söenhaus’s aesthetic conception. The dominance of a single, geometric form in a wild setting, with complete exclusion of extraneous elements usually associated with habitation, reinforces the statement about the potential of a building to express “dwelling” in its simplest essence. Inside the ‘Jewel Box’ is a 2 BR display home.

The home was designed with the same intrinsic quality: a simplicity that embodies bigger ideals, sharper details and warmer materials. Marcon’s design studio created a common language for key interior elements to enhance the sense of comfort and connection to the outdoors.
